Education panel- María Victoria Rodríguez

D. José Antonio Barrera
We should assume risks and look for solutions.
Create something because you want is the motivation everyone looks for.
Our knowledge is improving so much and so quickly due to technology.

D. Álvaro Vioque
Technology means growth which means improvement in education.
There are 6 out of 10 Spanish students leave the country to look for work outside it.
However, 4 out of 10 Spanish students stay and do not have a defined job.

Dña Patricia Giménez
The efficiency of education is not as good as it could be.
We should not be afraid of having a flexible mind and investigating.

Dña Cristina Durán
A problem that many students have, is the issue that they study to pass the exam but not study to learn.
It is very important to be the protagonist in our own learning.

Main Idea
Education is evolving due to technology however we are leaving behind certain issues. Even though technology has evolved a lot there are still many ideas towards an improvement.

Fernando Rivero Díaz

The flaws of education are:
  • There is no internal motivation from the students in the traditional education system.
  • In order to make education efficient, the person who is learning must realize that what he is learning is good for him.
  • The educational programs should be adapted to modern education.
  • The education system should prepare the students with the tools and techniques that will be required in the future.
  • Efficient education = effective technology implementation.

I conclude that modern education should implement technology effectively. Therefore, I believe that there is a symbiotic between technology and education: with better technology, education improves. With better-prepared students, we would be able to produce better technology and so on.

Guests: Mr. José Antonio Barrera, Mr. Álvaro Nioque, Mss. Patricia Giménez, and Mss. Cristina Durán

These 3 guests exposed really good and clear points of what is education and what could it be.

The ideas that I took from their debate were:

Education has 2 main problems. One the one hand, of them is the motivation. Kids are not motivated and one reason because of this could be that teachers are not waking up the interest in the students. On the other hand, we have the problem that the speed of knowledge increases with the development of the new technologies and this may end with a bad election of the themes that we have to study.

We have to find a way of implementing effectively the new technologies in the academic field.

Teachers have to see in the students, the person that they are, not the student that they are.

Finally, the last problem is that students do not learn always. Nowadays the most important things for students is the mark that they obtain in exams, however when they are asked after a long time what they have learned, they do not remember the learned stuff. This sums up with the following quote from Mss. Cristina Durán: "Learn from the experience of life and take the initiative".
Pedro Robles

Motivation is necessary at education.

In my opinion, motivation is one of the main problems in the education of these days. There are not so many teachers that motivate pupils to love the subjects of the school. As Dña Cristina Duran said, teenagers study for the exams, only to obtain suited academic results, while the main goal of them, should be to have an excitement of learning. If students aren´t motivated by teachers, they would never work comfortably in their future jobs.

Technologies in education.

The second idea is to effectively institute the technology in education.

As D. Álvaro Vioque said, technology in education would permit students to develop new abilities, critical thinking… To reach a rise in the educational efficiency, technology must be used with responsibility at schools. The goal is not to know, how to use technologies. The goal is to know if students are able to use them, in such a way that they learn more.
